Meet Dr. Monash
Jeffrey B. Monash, MD, FACS, CWSP is a board-certified general surgeon who practiced advanced minimally invasive surgery for over two decades. He has performed over 5500 Bariatric, and over 2500 general, oncologic, and vascular surgeries. He now directs the Wound Center of Tucson.
His experience with Bariatric surgery has helped elevate his wound care management by focusing on metabolic health and nutritional needs. His practice of general and vascular surgery brings experience with revascularization, trauma, burn management, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. By encouraging mobility and long-term dedication to one’s own health, he strives to improve his patients’ quality of life far beyond their wound care needs.
At the Wound Center of Tucson, Dr. Monash employs the most up-to-date treatments to heal severe and chronic wounds. He treats venous leg ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic wounds, pressure sores, traumatic wounds, surgical dehiscence, and much more.
Though retired from inpatient surgery, Dr. Monash made a promise to his Bariatric surgery patients that he would follow them for life. He has fulfilled his promise, and guides pre-operative patients as well. He teaches them how to prepare their household for surgical weight loss, and more importantly, for healthy weight loss maintenance.
His many years of experience have also helped him develop a non-operative weight loss program. Through this program, Dr. Monash has helped hundreds of patients achieve their weight loss goals without surgery, anesthesia, or medications that lead to weight regain when discontinued. He recognizes that weight loss has become a consumer-based industry, and the underlying issue is being ignored – those of us that reach morbid obesity have an addictive relationship with certain foods. As such, the only successful lifelong strategy employs dietary habits that allow patients to say “how” as opposed to “no.”
Dr. Monash grew up in Michigan, and told his dad when he was five years old that he was going to be a surgeon. After earning an academic scholarship for college, he was granted an early admission to the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He completed his General Surgery residency at Corewell Health East Beaumont in Royal Oak, Michigan, a leading Medical Center known for its excellence in surgical training. He then acquired a fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive General and Bariatric surgery at the University of California, Davis Institute where he gained extensive experience in laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
As an advocate for the evolution of evidence based medicine, Dr. Monash stays at the forefront of the latest advancements in Wound Care. He actively participates in professional organizations and continuing medical education in order to provide patients with the safest and most effective treatment options available.
Beyond his surgical practice, Dr. Monash, is passionate about patient outreach, often sharing valuable insights on weight loss and metabolic management, nutrition, and post-surgical care through speaking engagements, blogs, and social media. His mission is to help people reclaim their health, confidence and quality of life with expertise, empathy, and unwavering support. His motto has always been, “Live healthier, Live happier, Live longer.”
Dr. Monash is committed to giving back to the community. He proudly supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Embers of Hope, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, and Ben’s Bells Project, organizations dedicated to medical research, patient support, and spreading kindness.
